Lonely Werewolf Girl

Lonely Werewolf Girl - Martin Millar +: The humor and the story are engaging, and the character development well executed
-: Kalix can be gratingly juvenile at times and the book has its tiresome chapters
Overall: I liked it as a stand alone novel, but I'm looking forward to reading the sequel, now that I know it exists.

The Color Purple

The Color Purple - Alice Walker Interesting, thought provoking, but not something I'd read again.

Vampire Hunter D

Vampire Hunter D - Hideyuki Kikuchi, Yoshitaka Amano The descriptions in this book either made me laugh or cringe. I couldn't figure out if it was because of the author's flowery style or the fault of bad translation. Maybe both.

The Nimrod Flipout: Stories

The Nimrod Flipout: Stories - Etgar Keret, Institute for Translation of Hebrew Literature There's no shortage of sex and weirdness in this book, but most of the stories are either funny or thoughtful. Quick reading for when you're waiting in an office or between classes.

Too Many Curses

Too Many Curses - A. Lee Martinez Nessie reminds me of Martinez's nameless witch in that she's exceedingly practical and comes with an enjoyable, dry sense of humor. The minor characters are creatively fashioned and amusing... especially the jingling vampire and the jar of wizard parts. However, the plot moves very slowly and there isn't much happening at any given point. Too Many Curses is not one of Martinez's better books, but it's all right.

Earth and Ashes

Earth and Ashes - Atiq Rahimi, Erdağ M. Göknar The book is sad, but rewarding. And it's short, so the awkward point of view isn't overwhelming.

Stolen

Stolen - Vivian Vande Velde The synopsis made this sound so much more exciting than it really was.

Vampire High

Vampire High - Douglas Rees Entertaining, at times.

The Bonemender

The Bonemender - Holly Bennett The writing is a bit green at times, but I liked the characters and the story wasn't bad.
