+: The humor and the story are engaging, and the character development well executed
The descriptions in this book either made me laugh or cringe. I couldn't figure out if it was because of the author's flowery style or the fault of bad translation. Maybe both.
There's no shortage of sex and weirdness in this book, but most of the stories are either funny or thoughtful. Quick reading for when you're waiting in an office or between classes.
Nessie reminds me of Martinez's nameless witch in that she's exceedingly practical and comes with an enjoyable, dry sense of humor. The minor characters are creatively fashioned and amusing... especially the jingling vampire and the jar of wizard parts. However, the plot moves very slowly and there isn't much happening at any given point. Too Many Curses is not one of Martinez's better books, but it's all right.
